My chosen video to analyse and use as inspiration is 'Vanguard' by the stunning Violet Chachki:
The artist of my chosen song is no other than the gorgeous genderfluid Violet Chachki. {Male and female pronouns} Violet Chachki is the stage name of Jason Dardo, an American drag queen, burlesque dancer, model and singer. Chachki competed on the seventh season of reality competition series RuPaul's Drag Race and won the crown and title of 'Next Drag Superstar' at just 22 years of age. She is basically the embodiment of confidence and talent, which is what I would like to portray in my finished music video, which I think and hope will show people that it's okay to stand up for what you believe in and embrace who you are, no matter what.
The music video for 'Vanguard', directed by the brilliant Michael Serrato, is a visual, avant-garde masterpiece that includes stunning visuals including a ferocious poodle, an intense-looking breastplate that she peels from her chest, and glimpses of the timeless queen performing an aerial silks routine - one of her many talents.

This song is from Vi's 2015 EP; Gagged, which was released on June 30th by the label 'Sidecar Records' and peaked at No.11 on the US Dance Charts and No.16 on the US Heat charts.
Nothing is black and white
I'm your private eye
Out of sight in your mind
See me on your screen
Bullseye so obscene
Baby break loose for me
Baby break loose for me
Vanguard, leaders of the front line
Undercover femme after midnight
Vanguard, living for the moment
It's a dog eat world, gonna own it
Vanguard
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh
Vanguard
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh
Vanguard
One look turn to stone
Trap door to the unknown
Chill you down to the bone
I'm coming for every throne
Living a fantasy
Wearing it scantily
For your eyes only
For your eyes only
What is your desire?
Good like finding it
Follow me into the night
Under the cover of darkness
Vanguard, leaders of the front line
Undercover femme after midnight
Vanguard, leaders of the moment
It's a dog eat world, gonna own it
Vanguard
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh
Vanguard
Whoa oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh
Vanguard
(What is your desire?
Good luck finding out)
Vanguard, leaders of the front line
Undercover femme after midnight
Vanguard, living for the moment

Chosen Song
I wanted to choose a song that was similar to Violet's, in the way that I wanted it to be in the 'dance' genre also, and I wanted it to have a much deeper meaning to than first meets the eye. To narrow down to my chosen song, I went into the dance genre of my iTunes library, and picked the songs that stuck out to me as being related to Vanguard. After this, I then searched the lyrics of each song and wrote a note on each of what theme stuck out the most in each, and made the decision whether I thought it was meaningful enough to use for my final project.
I really wanted a song where the more times you listen to it, the more meanings you would find and the more ideas it would give you about life, and so I finally decided on the song 'Dead Dandelion' by the amazing undead Sharon Needles. The lyrics to this song are quite mysterious and dark, quite like Vanguard and also gives me so many themes and raw emotion to build upon and show in my video. I'm also very happy with this pick as it actually has no music video to it yet (it only came out on Halloween), which I think is a massive plus as there will be nothing to influence my own vision for it.
